DESCRIPTION:Cost:  \nFree for all MACAE Member Program Staff; $50 for Non-Members; Designed primarily for Program Directors/Coordinators and Data/Administrative Staff but all educators interested in adult education data are welcome to attend as well. \nDescription: \nThis session will be focused on the importance of data and how to use currently available resources to improve Adult Education program data management\, monitoring\, and entry methods. Participants will be (re)introduced to some tools\, guides\, and reports before taking some time to practice utilizing them to help evaluate their own program data. There will also be multiple opportunities to share program-specific difficulties related to data and solicit potential strategies for how to deal with them. \n  \n**Note: To get the most out of this session\, participants will want to make sure they have access to either their own MAERS account or attend with someone else from their program who has one. It may also be helpful to have access to any other systems where program data is recorded/stored as well.** \n  \nFacilitator:  \nJoel Render is the Adult/Alternative Education Specialist for Livingston Educational Service Agency. Amongst several other duties\, he has been the primary data manager for the Livingston ESA Adult Education program for 9+ years. DESCRIPTION:MACAE will be hosting an ESL webinar on “Empowering Language Learners Through Differentiated Instruction” on Friday\, January 17 at 9 a.m. This session will explore the transformative impact of differentiated instruction (DI) in second language acquisition. Participants will learn about DI principles\, including flexible grouping\, tiered assignments\, and personalized learning paths\, shown to enhance student engagement and language proficiency. During the session\, we will also be discussing integrating technology to support DI by using digital tools to create adaptive learning environments tailored to individual student needs. Participants will gain insights and practical tools to enhance their teaching practice\, fostering more inclusive and effective language learning environments. \nPraew Bupphachuen\, ESOL Teacher\, at the Refugee Development Center in Lansing will be the main presenter. Praew recently received her Master’s degree in TESOL from Michigan State University and has seven years of experience in the field of language teaching. \nParticipants will have the chance to receive 1 SCECH for attending this session.
