Description:

Are you looking for ways to engage students in English language learning? Are you looking for tools to organize and streamline your instruction? Then this PD is for you.  Participants will explore the latest curriculum updates in Burlington English software.  They will discuss and learn about strategies for implementation in instruction.

As a group cohort in a weeklong series, each day will focus on a different component of the Burlington English system including but not limited to: Orientation, Classroom Management, Instructional Learning Tools and Strategies for Instruction.

 

Facilitator:

Louie Para is the State Relations Manager for Burlington English.  He has presented at the state and national levels around the adult education software and curriculum tool, Burlington English.

1.0          3:00pm– 4:00pm: Curriculum resources and Instructional Strategies for Success

In this section we will review orientation and introduction strategies for introducing adult education participants to Burlington English online software.  The presenter(s) will review important strategies around instructional design as well as curriculum resources from printed text to online/virtual learning platforms available on the Burlington English system.

.5            4:00pm-4:30pm: Individual/Group Work Time

Participants will discuss in small groups some of the key instructional strategies learned and how they will implement them into their programming this program year.  Attendees walk away with a comprehensive list of competencies and correlated instructional support tools and strategies.

4:30pm Wrap Up and Evaluations

In this section we will review ongoing classroom management strategies for infusing the Burlington English online software into a hybrid classroom setting.  The presenter(s) will review important strategies around instructional design as well as curriculum resources from printed text to online/virtual learning platforms available on the Burlington English system.

Participants will discuss in small groups some of the key instructional strategies learned and how they will implement them into their programming this program year.  Attendees walk away with a comprehensive list of competencies and correlated instructional support tools and strategies.

In this section we will review the newest instructional learning tools introduced in the Burlington System for administrators, teachers and participants.  We will explore each from the administrator, teacher and participant view pages on the online software.  The presenter(s) will review important strategies around instructional design as well as curriculum resources from printed text to online/virtual learning platforms available on the Burlington English system.

.5            4:00pm-4:30pm: Individual/Group Work Time

Participants will discuss in small groups some of the key instructional strategies learned and how they will implement them into their programming this program year.  Attendees walk away with a comprehensive list of competencies and correlated instructional support tools and strategies.
